As a westerner spending most of my life living in foreign lands I am often more than a bit out of place. Sometimes local people might wonder how people like me think, and often turn to stereotypes to fill in the massive amount of blanks. This song was written by Adam Duritz, I think it was his expression of feeling a bit out of place sometimes. I have meant to post this here for years, so I may as well do it now before I postpone it again.
Enjoy.
Colorblind Lyrics
I am colorblind
Coffee black and egg white
Pull me out from inside
I am ready, I am ready, I am ready,
I am taffy stuck and tongue tied
Stutter shook and uptight
Pull me out from inside
I am ready, I am ready, I am ready,
I am fine
I am covered in skin
No one gets to come in
Pull me out from inside
I am folded and unfolded and unfolding
I am colorblind
Coffee black and egg white
Pull me out from inside
I am ready, I am ready, I am ready,
I am fine
I am fine
I am fine
Every time I hear this song I think I should share this here on the Blog. For years I haven’t, so I am sharing it now.
Skunk Anansie – You Do Something To Me
You do something to me Something deep inside I’m hanging on the wire For a love I’ll never find You do something wonderful Then chase it all away Mixing my emotions That throws me back again Hanging on the wire, I’m waiting for the change I’m dancing through the fire, Just to catch a flame An’ feel real again Hanging on the wire, Said I’m waiting for the change I’m dancing through the fire, Just to catch a flame An’ feel real again You do something to me Somewhere deep inside I’m hoping to get close to A peace I cannot find -Dancing through the fire yeah Just to catch a flame Just to get close to, Just close enough To tell you that You do something to me Something deep inside
Meth brained lover hidin’ under yellow covers
When I talked to da master, he say
He said, you ain’t cooked nothin’
‘Till you’re crystal blue cookin
Untill then you’d best be changin’ your ways
I met cartel leaders, showed I was no bleeder
All these times I can reminisce
And the best thing comin’ was the millions by the dozen
Started with a little stack, like this
Your hangin’ on a corner isn’t cool
once shots start flyin’ past in the air
They’re pulling on the triggers, trying to hit you in the middle
Best be runin’, get the hell outa there
So I took a big chance and cooked a big batch
With the master who was ready to play
His family he was foolin
Didn’t know what he was doin’
Taught me how to cook this way
He told me to
Cook this way, cook this way
Cook this…
Where I come from, rain is the treble, thunder is bass, lightning excites the air, and all creatures move to the rhythm of the land.
In the evening as the moon comes out, I stir from my dwelling, and go to the club. Music is playing, the lights are flashing, but the thousands inside are sitting, bored.
I move to the front of the room and take over the DJ Booth.
As I mix through the system, and my beat overtakes their souls, everyone rises, and begins to dance.
I was just listening to this, and though everyone else should listen to it also. So please press play below and help fulfill my dream of everyone else listening to this song by Angels And Airwaves. The lyrics are below the video, good to read as you listen.
Turn it up loud, maybe even so loud that you could force your neighbors to listen also.
ANGELS & AIRWAVES “SECRET CROWDS” – LYRICS
(If I had my own world)
(I’d build you an empire)
If I had my own world
I’d fill it with wealth and desire
A glorious past to admire
And voices of kids out walking dogs,
Birds, planes, cleanest cars
If I had my own world
I’d love it for all that’s inside it
There’d be no more wars, death or riots
There’d be no more police, packed-parking lots,
Guns, bombs sounding off
If I had my own world
I’d build you an empire
From here to the far lands
To spread love like violence
If I had my own world
I’d build you an empire
From here to the far lands
To spread love like violence
Let me feel you, carry you higher
Watch our words spread hope like fire
Secret crowds rise up and gather
Hear your voices sing back louder
If I had my own world
I’d show you the life that’s inside it
The way that it glows when you find it
The way it survives with its families,
Friends or its enemies
Let’s make this a new world
I swear you can go if you want to
I know that you have it within you
Inventing the first clean and usable,
God’s greatest miracle
If I had my own world
I’d build you an empire
From here to the far lands
To spread love like violence
If I had my own world
I’d build you an empire
From here to the far lands
To spread love like violence
Let me feel you, carry you higher
Watch our words spread hope like fire
Secret crowds rise up and gather
Hear your voices sing back louder
Let me feel you, carry you higher
Watch our words spread hope like fire
Secret crowds rise up and gather
Hear your voices sing back louder
Let me feel you, carry you higher
Watch our words spread hope like fire
Secret crowds rise up and gather
Hear your voices sing back louder
Let me feel you, carry you higher
Watch our words spread hope like fire
Secret crowds rise up and gather
Hear your voices sing back louder
