Gorrilaz – Fire Coming Out Of The Monkey’s Head Lyrics

We hear stories like this all the time and we see movies about them and of course songs, but what usually people can’t quite imagine that things like this actually not only happen, but are happening in multiple countries and places in the world right now as we speak.

Money rules this world, and lets face it some people will do anything to get it.

Hope you enjoy the song.

Narrator (speaking)
Once upon a time at the foot of a great mountain,
There was a town where the people known as Happyfolk lived.
Their very existence a mystery to the rest of the world,
Obscured as it was by great clouds.
Here they played out their peaceful lives,
Innocent of the litany of excess and violence,
That was growing in the world below.
To live in harmony with the spirit of the mountain called Monkey was enough.
Then one day, Strangefolk arrived in the town.
They came in camouflaged,
Hidden behind dark glasses,
But no one noticed them; they only saw shadows.
You see, without the truth of the eyes, the Happyfolk were blind.

2D (singing)
Falling out of aeroplanes and hiding out in holes
Waiting for the sunset to come, people going home
Jump out from behind them, and shoot them in the head
Now everybody dancing the dance of the dead
The dance of the dead.
The dance of the dead.

Narrator (speaking)
In time, the Strangefolk found their way into the higher reaches of the mountain,
And it was there that they found the caves,
Of unimaginable sincerity and beauty.
By chance, they stumbled upon the place where all good souls come to rest.
The Strangefolk, they coveted the jewels in these caves above all things,
And soon they began to mine the mountain,
It’s rich seam fueling the chaos of their own world.
Meanwhile, down in the town, the Happyfolk slept restlessly,
Their dreams invaded by shadowy figures digging away at their souls.
Every day, people would wake and stare at the mountain.
Why was it bringing darkness into their lives?
And as the Strangefolk mined deeper and deeper into the mountain,
Holes began to appear, bringing with them
A cold and bitter wind that chilled the very soul of the Monkey.
For the first time, the Happyfolk felt fearful for,
They knew that soon the Monkey would stir from its deep sleep.
Then there came a sound, distant first, that grew into castrophany so immense it could be heard far away in space (echoes).
There were no screams.
There was no time.
The mountain called Monkey had spoken.
There was only fire.
And then,
Nothing.

2D (singing)
Oh, little town in U.S.A.
The time has come to see
All the things you think you are
But where were you when it all came down on me
Did you call me now?

Corporate Hush Hush

I have been spending quite a bit of time on social bookmarking websites recently.

One of the sites I was using rhymes with Bigg, I wont post the actual name here because I do not wish for me to Ban my website from theirs.

Bigg is a websites where you submit links and other with similar interests are able to view them.

I was doing fairly well driving traffic to my main website and found it quite interesting to read all the important news stories as they broke.

I found I drove the most comments to my website by submitting comments about the articles. Whether people agreed or not, they did tend to click to view my profile, and then this website.

I found when I was on there quite a lot of corporate dis-information, and people were eating it up.

There were also quite a few shabby stories with very little facts but people tended to feel this justified their own opinions about things and voted them up.

I ended up becoming quite outspoken about the environment and got a lot of people that would pay attention to my posts. After a while for some reason even though I was only having five or so people that had read my comment so far, I was being voted down 15 to 20 times in a matter of minutes.

With the system of one vote per user per day, this is impossible.

These were negative votes that were being put on me by the bookmarking site.

My comments were pretty well researched, and I have been to places that are currently being destroyed by large corporations and had quite a bit to say. So even though I was being voted down. The people that followed me were voting me back up.

A lot of the companies that we were fighting against are actually advertisers on the website, and I guess Bigg being a commercial site, they felt I was going against their interests, and banned me, also deleting all my posts and comments for the entire site. Even though I often had the top Comment on some very popular articles.

It is sad that a large group of us was trying to point out the damage being done by large corporations to places like Sumatra, with the clear cutting and burring, this of course kills a lot of animals and causes large health problems for the millions of humans that live there. There are also cases of actual murder.

Anyhow I wont talk about it too much, I don’t live that far away from where this corporation has its headquarters and they are extremely well funded.

However I find it very sad about this corporate hush hush. These people are literally getting away with murder, and turning rain forests into deserts, not to mention the implications towards global warming, if carbon actually causes global warming. I am sure if Bigg dropped their advertising someone else would pick up the slack eventually. I guess they feel no responsibility to the world even though they are getting large enough to help shape it.

I hope one day I will be in a position to help the world like they are, I would use my power for the good of all, instead of just the good of my already enormous bank account.

Herding Thoery – Do People Herd ?

A long time ago someone asked me if I had ever heard of the hearding theory

I said I hadent and asked him what it was about, and he said. “People are like a Herd and follow one another”

Well at first I said No I dont really think so, but I kept thinking about it a bit and now say it is fairly true.

It doesn’t mean that everyone follows each other, just like a herd of cattle or horses, or sometimes even like lemmings . One follows a leader usualy.

You can apply that to social situations, work, school and especialy any uniformed positions.

Lets face it its easier to follow than break away and have no one follow you. In the work world sometimes breaking away just doesnt offer the money needed to keep yourself with food and shelter. So it pays to follow at least for a while.

I used to play quite a few online games like Everquest, Wow, City of Heroes, Conan, Lord of the Rings, and Guildwars. These are games you playover the internet with people from all over the world. You usualy have missions, sometimes very long ones, that you team up to try and conquer together. Teams used to get as large as 70 people at a time with Everquest. Missions were mostly led by one. During normal gameplay people would just join anyones group, because they didnt want to lead. It was too much effort even though they might be better at it.

I just looked this up on Wikipedia, I had to see if it was on there or not, and it is, here is their definition:

“Herd behavior describes how individuals in a group can act together without planned direction. The term pertains to the behavior of animals in herds, flocks, and schools, and to human conduct during activities such as stock market bubbles and crashes, street demonstrations, sporting events, religious gatherings, episodes of mob violence and even everyday decision making, judgment and opinion forming.”

Lets face it although we have great brain power, we are often too lazy to excersize it, this can sometimes, or often, lead to group stupidity where people think agreeing with the herd means they must be right and dont look at things from outside the box they have put themselves in.

Infested Gaia Theory – Infected Mother Earth

Almost two decades ago as I sat with a good friend of mine looking towards a particularly beautiful jungle covered volcano near a white sandy beach, he asked me if I had ever heard the theory of a living Earth. I replied “No, what is it?” so over the next few minutes he outlined it to me. Although I doubt the theory is true, there are aspects of it that have been bouncing around in my head for many years now, so I thought I should share it here with you.

When I think about earth in my head, I usually think of images of green pastures, flowers, trees, blue skies with fluffy white clouds, flying birds and a sun. These images are probably influenced by many artistic and photographic images I have seen that depict this, as well the environment I grew up in in Canada that occasionally would look almost exactly like this. Depending on what you are used to, you may think of other things, I imagine a child that grows up in a city, does not travel out of it, and does not watch much TV or take art classes may imagine things very differently.

But this is not an image of a pasture, or jungle, or city, but an entirely different way to think about our magnetically shielded planet spinning through the galaxy with it’s shifting plates, moving oceans, and erupting volcanoes.

Infested Gaia Theory:

Earth is not a simple rock, but is actually a very large living organism, and like all living organisms it experiences phases of heath, and sickness. Grass, and trees are similar to our hairs, volcanoes are similar to blemishes, and just like any other living organism, it does gradually shift and change appearance over the years, but since it is such a long living and huge organism, it shifts very slowly as it feels no great rush to move any faster.  This is hardly detectable by us shorter lived animals that inhabit her.

Like all living organisms it is covered in other creatures, most of them are parasites, by definition a parasite is a species who benefits at the expense of its host. Obviously since we use materials from earth to build everything we use, from computers to cities, space ships and nuclear bombs, we easily fit the definition of a parasite.

Mother Earth can heal herself quite quickly against small disturbances, but humans in particular are a very high breeding, and destructive parasite, who have become experts at cutting down forests, destroying foliage, as well as burrowing and blasting right into the earth.  Where there was once beautiful green wild ares of life, we create massive, sterile “Dead Spaces”, mostly only inhabited by us, and then work very hard to maintain it’s sterility as we expand.

This is our nature, being the parasites that we are.

What do you do if you drag some soil into the house? You take it back out.

If the road or sidewalk cracks and some grass comes up, we usually kill the grass, and pave it back over.

I mean who doesn’t enjoy sitting around a fire at night and throwing bits of trees into it?

Like all living organisms, mother earth does have an immune system, and one day the immune system might kick into high gear and it could kill off most of us parasites through rains, volcanoes, earthquakes, and tsunamis, hopefully I won’t be around to see it.

Mercenary for the Man

Although almost two decades have past,  my time employed with a  large North American electronics company, still deeply effects my perspective on corporate  life. I started out as a simple salesman, but over time  moved myself up through the various positions the company offered, and by the age of twenty two I had a hundred and fifty people below me on the corporate ladder, and only two above. I was making myself quite a decent income.

During my last two years with this company, I found that my boss had started to ask me to take over more and more responsibility. I was told that if I did the work now, great wealth would follow, as time went on, I gave more and more of my time and energy to the company, sixty plus hours a week was pretty normal, often with business trips thrown in, where I was basically “at work” 24 hours a day.

After a couple of years,  I began to go beyond asking, and demanded the raise they had promised me, there were various long winded “reasons” why it could not be given to me, but the truth was, that the pay of my non-owner boss above me, would have had to be slashed to pay me for all his work I was doing for him.

The incredible work hours of the last two years, had taken a huge toll on my social life without helping my financial status at all. They had me working my ass off for nothing. I was “chasing carrots” I would never be given.  I cant believe I let them do this for me for almost two years.  I had been given much more responsibility, and many more headaches,  but no reward. My corporate slavery had distanced me from my close friends,  and ended up losing me my girlfriend. My work had become the unhealthy centre of my life.

Disgusted at how the company had strung me along for two years, and heartbroken over my lost love, I quit the job, though they tried tossing money at me to get me back, I had already lost my faith in them, so off I went. I took the money I had  saved from working there for so long, bought myself a backpack, and began to travel around the world.

Sixteen months later, while hanging out on a beach in Thailand I ended up meeting five English teachers on vacation from their work in Korea. We spent a few very fun days together, since I was starting to run out of travel money, but didn’t really want to go home, I began asking them about their work in Korea. They all agreed with one another that they didn’t like the job, and even went on to say they didn’t like the country, the people the boss or anything.

I was a bit taken aback by their unanimous dislike for their job, and asked them “Why on earth do you work there then?”

One guy said something that has stuck with me to this day, and I have often considered just how much I agree with this, he said: “I don’t work for companies, I work for myself, I do it for money, I am a mercenary.”

Obviously he wasn’t a real “mercenary”, he was an English teacher, but I liked his idea. He didn’t do what he did for his company, or his boss, he just did it for the money.

Since that time I have always approached work this way. I don’t care what a jerk my boss is, or if I like the company, and I don’t do things to help my boss or the company for free, because in the end, the company and the boss only care about the money, they don’t care about you. They only want you to do things for free, because it saves them money.

Of course I still do my work as well as I can, you need to do a very good job to be a demanding employee, but if people ask me to take another responsibility, I will ask if there is an immediate raise involved before i agree to do it. My loyalty now has a price.

I also became a mercenary for the man.
