Metallica is an heavy metal band from California. The band formed in 1981 when James Hetfield responded to an advertisement that drummer Lars Ulrich had posted in a local newspaper. The band's aggressive musicianship and fast tempos, placed them as one of the founding "big four" of thrash metal.

Master of Puppets is Metallica's third studio album. It was released in February of 1986,and album peaked at number 29 on the Billboard 200 chart. Master of Puppets was the first thrash metal album to be certified platinum, and in June of 2003, it was certified six times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, having sold six million copies in the United States.
