Bob Dylan is an American singer-songwriter, musician, artist, music producer, and writer. For more than five decades Dylan has been an influential figure in popular culture and music. Much of his most celebrated work dates from the 60s when he was a seemingly reluctant figurehead of social unrest. A number of Dylan's early songs, such as "The Times They Are a-Changin'" and "Blowin' in the Wind", became anthems for the US civil rights and anti-war movements. In 1965, Dylan's single "Like a Rolling Stone" radically altered the parameters of popular music.

Dylan has sold more than 100 million records worldwide and received numerous awards including Grammy, Golden Globe, and Academy Awards; he has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In May 2012, Dylan received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama.
