Pearl Logo T-Shirt

Pearl was founded by Katsumi Yanagisawa in 1946 Tokyo Japan with the manufacturing of music stands. In 1950, Yanagisawa began focusing on the manufacturing of drums. By 1953, Pearl's manufacturing had expanded to include drum kits, timpani, Latin percussion instruments, marching drums, cymbals, stands, and accessories. By 1957 Pearl had begun to export it's products worldwide.

The advent of rock and roll music, and subsequent increase in worldwide demand for Pearl's drum kits let to Pearl building a 15,000 sq ft factory in Chiba, Japan where they produced inexpensive drum kits that bore the brand names of more than thirty distributors.

Pearl's long list of clients and endorsers is a veritable who's who of Rock music.
