Rush was a Canadian rock band composed of Geddy Lee (vocals, bass, keyboards), Alex Lifeson (guitar) and Neil Peart (percussion, drums, lyrics). After forming in 1968, the band went through several configurations until arriving at its longest line-up when Peart replaced original drummer John Rutsey in 1974.
Rush is known for its musicianship, complex compositions, and eclectic lyrical motifs drawing heavily on science fiction, fantasy, and philosophy. Rush ranks 86th with sales of 25 million units in the U.S. Industry sources estimated Rush's total worldwide album sales at over 65 million units. The group has been awarded 24 gold, 14 platinum, and 3 multi-platinum albums.
