The American rock band Pearl Jam formed 1990 in Seattle, Washington. Since the beginning, the band's line-up has included Eddie Vedder (vocals), Jeff Ament (bass), Stone Gossard (guitar) and Mike McCready (guitar). The band's current drummer is Matt Cameron, also in Soundgarden, has been with the band since 1998.

Pearl Jam became mainstream music with its debut album, Ten. Pearl Jam, over the course of their career, became noted for refusing to follow traditional music industry practices, including a much-publicized boycott of Ticketmaster, and refusing to make music videos. Rolling Stone described the band in 2006 as having "spent much of the past decade deliberately tearing apart their own fame."

The band has sold over 60 million albums worldwide, and is considered one of the most influential bands of the nineties.
